The Hospice of St Francis transforms the lives of over 1,000 local men and women living with life-shortening illnesses and provides outstanding support to family and friends facing the trauma of losing someone they love. At the heart of all we do is a commitment to shape our services to meet the needs and desires of our patients whether we are looking after them in our Inpatient Unit, or in the family home or in the local community. We are a registered charity and all of the care that we provide is free.
Hospice and Palliative care concentrates on the person: their past, present and future as well as their symptoms. From the point of diagnosis onwards, our team of experts ensure that patients’ emotional and clinical needs are met in whatever way necessary. We listen to what is important to every person, their family and friends, what really matters when time is precious.
We are also a beacon hospice whose aim is to promote excellence and best practice in palliative care through thought leadership, education and research both in the UK and internationally. This is core to our vision and is vital to influencing end-of-life education in hospitals, care homes and the community.
